One of the things we love most about our student-athletes is that their determination for success continues to inspire us long after they graduate. For the second annual Spider Athletics Alumni Achievement Awards, we wanted to recognize two star alums for their leadership and contributions to their professions.

This year’s recipients are Margaret Stender, W’78, and Kevin Eastman, R’77. Stender, who was a three-sport student-athlete while at UR, served as the founding president and CEO of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky while also launching a basketball and leadership development initiative for girls called the Flow Basketball Academy. Eastman moved from the basketball court to the coaching chair, spending 22 years as a collegiate coach before moving to the NBA’s Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers.

Congratulations, Margaret and Kevin!
