Even though campus may be quiet this week during the Thanksgiving holiday, we still have a lot of exciting news to share. Take former women’s soccer standout Ashley Riefner, ’16, who was just named Finland’s midfielder of the year.

Riefner is the only American in Finland’s top professional league — HJK Helsinki in the Naisten Liiga premier division — and she helped the club with the 2019 championship.

While at Richmond, the four-year student-athlete finished her career in ninth place on the all-time scoring list. She is just the fourth Spider to play professionally, joining Jaclyn Raveia,'01; Edda Gardarsdottir, '03; and Olina Vidarsdottir, '04.
