Talented defensive back/cellist emblematic of Spider versatility

Spider Pride

At Richmond, our community of Spiders is not defined by a singular trait. We are multitalented with a varying list of interests and passions. It’s not uncommon for us to succeed in different areas — like Nile Harris, ’22, who was recently profiled for his talents on and off the field.

Harris is a redshirt freshman defensive back on the football team, but also plays the cello in our orchestra. He was recently profiled for his dynamic talents — he has played five different sports and eight different instruments! — and the correlation he’s found between classical music and sports.

"As an orchestra ensemble, you really have to trust your stand partner," Harris said. "You have to trust who's in front of you as well as who's behind you. I think that aspect translates to the field a lot."

As for his future plans, Harris is studying healthcare and wants to go into the medical field after graduation. As any Spider knows, it’s hard to put just one label on our talents!
