Football alum inspired to care for fellow Spiders

Spider Pride

We know a student’s time at Richmond is a defining one — it’s where career goals are defined and lifelong relationships are formed. And we love hearing about alums whose collegiate experience inspires them to give back to the place where it all started.

Andrew Bogle, ’02, studied biology and played football while at UR, and now he’s an orthopedic surgeon who serves as one of our team’s primary physicians.

“I had always thought I wanted to be involved in medicine, and as I got more involved in sports, I really liked the idea of taking care of athletes and musculoskeletal injuries,” Bogle said. He was drawn back to Spider football by the opportunity to care for, and protect, our student-athletes — and is better able to relate to them because of his background, he said in a recent article.

We’re proud to be a place that calls our alums back home!
