Capping off our momentous 125th year of Spiders

Spider Pride

We’ve wrapped up another exciting academic year celebrating 125 years of being Spiders, and we enjoyed celebrating with many of you at Reunion. Like always, #SpiderPride has been in full force, so we wanted to reminisce on some of our favorite highlights throughout the past year.

We jumped in the Wall Street Journal rankings for private universities and snagged the No. 6 spot in Money Mag’s roundup of the best schools for business majors. Speaking of the b-school, we celebrated Dean Bagranoff’s myriad accomplishments and are excited to welcome our new dean, Mickey Quiñones, next week. Spiders on campus stayed busy this year, thanks to Fulbrights, national science accolades, prestigious scholarships — and of course, more goats.

Launched this year, UR’s first Giving Day made history and the new EnCompass program is increasing access to study abroad programs. Outside of the classroom, both our men’s and women’s lacrosse teams swept their conference tournaments and a swimmer qualified for Olympic trials.

And let’s not forget our alums around the world — appearing on national news and receiving global attention for their businesses. Spider Pride is contagious!

If the incoming class of #Richmond2023 is anything like our newest alums — and we have a feeling they are — then we will have even more excitement to come in just a few short weeks!
