Spider Pride

Richmond creates a special bond among alums, and we love honoring an impressive group each year who epitomizes alumni engagement by giving back to their professions, communities, or the place where it all began.

We recently highlighted New York Times bestselling-author Kelly Corrigan, W’89, for her new book, and now she’s one of the newest recipients of the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service along with John Moreau, R’64 and G’71. The latter’s career spanned over 40 years in public and private school education, as well as 30 years of volunteerism with Special Olympics Virginia.

The Distinguished Recent Graduate Award went to strategy expert Matt Bodnar, ’09, a “Forbes 30 Under 30” recipient and partner in multiple fast-growing companies.

Other awardees include Paige Wigginton, ’09, who received the Jepson School of Leadership Studies’ 10th Year Reunion Recognition Award for her career in student affairs, most notably for her current post as the associate director of special services at the University of Pennsylvania. Stephanie Eken Sander, ’97, received the Jepson School of Leadership Studies Alumni Award for her work as a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist and pediatrician.

Our alums continue to inspire us, and we’re honored to be among those who are devoted to philanthropic outreach!
