Spider Pride

We’re committed to our first-generation students and their continued success — as evidenced by our Spider Firsts program — and our own President Crutcher is our biggest supporter.

As a first-gen grad himself, he is able to relate to our determined students who are the first in their families to pursue an undergrad degree — and he was even asked by U.S. News & World Report recently to share some advice. Seeking help is something that helped him in college, and he encourages students to do the same.

“You're not indicating that you're weak, or that you're not well prepared or that you don't belong here when you ask for help,” Crutcher said in the article. “Everybody needs help of some sort.”

We’re proud to be the kind of place — with the kind of president — that is committed to supporting and encouraging our students throughout their collegiate journey!
