Spider Pride

One of the many things we love about our students — and particularly our student-athletes — is that their talents know no bounds. Their motivation to succeed both in and out of the classroom makes us proud each and every time.

Football kicker Griffin Trau, ’18 and C’19, is not only one of the most successful place-kickers in school and conference history, but he’s also received a prestigious Fulbright award to teach English in the Czech Republic during the 2019-20 academic year. With a double major in leadership studies and international studies, he was named the Jepson School of Leadership Studies Student-Athlete of the Year in 2017, and then went on to earn a Master of Liberal Arts through the School of Professional and Continuing Studies while competing for the Spiders.

UR is one of only 11 institutions to be recognized as a top producer of Fulbrights for both students and faculty — and we are honored that Griffin is joining the elite Fulbright rank!
