We’ve talked about math professor James Davis before — as a Fulbright Global Scholar, he’s known for going out in the world to pursue new research, ultimately benefiting our students in his classroom.

His latest $25,000 National Science Foundation grant supports an international conference (which he’s co-organizing, btw) and costs for 14 participants with a focus on supporting underrepresented and early career researchers. “Finite Fields and their Applications” is being held this year in Vancouver, Canada, at Simon Fraser University.

“Math is an important part of balancing speed, accuracy, and security in so much of what we do on a daily basis from texting to shopping online to streaming video,” Davis said.

We’re so proud of Dr. Davis and his work!
