Bonner Scholars multiply impact through tech nonprofit

Spider Pride

We all know Spiders are an ambitious bunch who dedicate their time to various passion projects and extracurricular activities. So it should come to no surprise to hear that oftentimes those students are considered indispensable to local nonprofits, like in the case of Bonner Scholars Abhishek Shilpaker and Will Walker, both ’21.

As part of their work as Bonner Scholars, the duo dedicates time each week to IT4Causes, an organization that provides information technology solutions for fellow nonprofits.

"We’ve had a phenomenal level of support from UR students," IT4Causes CEO Tom Anderson said. "They’re bright, energetic, and willing to help. Their ability to learn and take on new tasks and challenges has really helped us."

Bonner Scholars volunteer with one nonprofit throughout their four years at UR, so both Shilpaker and Walker will continue to influence not only IT4Causes, but the company’s expanding nonprofit clientele.

We’re proud of Abhishek and Will — and all of our Bonner Scholars — as they use their expertise to help others.
