The desire to give back is prevalent throughout our Spider Family. Whether it’s through launching a nonprofit or volunteering for local causes, we know Spiders are doing their part to make the world a better place for others.

Kerry Wynn, ’14, represents this trait — a defensive end with the New York Giants, he used his NFL offseason this year to launch a nonprofit with a mission close to his heart. The Why Not Me Foundation will provide scholarships to hardworking students attending his hometown high school in Louisa, Virginia.

“I want them to ask, ‘Why can’t I be the first in my family to go to college?’” Wynn said in a recent article. “I want to know their story and find someone who’s shown great character, who their peers look up to.”

He said he hopes to award the first scholarship to a member of the Class of 2019. We’re so proud of Kerry’s initiative and accomplishments — both on and off the field!
