Spiders rally to support students in need

Spider Pride

Part of what sets Richmond apart from its peers is the incredibly strong community — led by our alums — dedicated to helping UR and current students thrive. During the recent Spiders Helping Spiders campaign, that support from here on campus, coast-to-coast, and around the world was on full display, bringing in more than $70,000 for our students today, tomorrow, or whenever they most need our help.

One new fund in particular, the Student Emergency Fund, now exceeds $53,000 — all thanks to our Spider Family. It’s designed to cover unanticipated expenses — from personal health issues to family emergencies — to ensure that unexpected financial need doesn't derail a student’s education.

Some of you were first-time donors — 200, to be exact! — and classes ranging from 1949 to 2019 participated in the campaign with $5 to $10,000 gifts.

We’re grateful for our community’s engagement as our students’ needs evolve. Thank you, Spiders, for your generosity!
