UR connects students with prestigious alums

Spider Pride

When you are part of the Richmond community, you’re automatically exposed to other Spiders who are tackling industries around the globe. With the help of the Office of Career Services, our students and alums are connected to the web (no pun intended … really) of those who have come before them.

Just this week, Todd Haymore, R’91, lectured in one of Jennifer Pribble’s political science classes, spending invaluable time with students. Haymore’s impressive resume includes serving Virginia under two governors as Secretary of Commerce and Trade and Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry, and currently heads the global economic development, commerce, and government relations group for law firm Hunton Andrews Kurth. Haymore agrees with us that Virginia has a world-class university system — with UR being No. 1, of course — and spoke to students about the Virginia International Trade Alliance, developed to help businesses succeed in the international marketplace and strengthen the economy.

Haymore is just one of many examples of Spiders lending expertise to other Spiders. Not only do alums often return to campus, but they’re accessible through our online database, Spider Connect, as well. We’re proud to have such a thriving and distinguished network accessible to our Spider Family!
