There’s no better way to start an academic year than by breaking a record. The streak continues this year as we welcome the Class of 2022, which is among UR’s most academically talented Spiders.

Snagging 800 coveted spots, our newest Spiders are raising the bar in unweighted grade point average, ACT composite scores and mean SAT combined scores. They’ve also arrived to Richmond with an already proven track record of success in 38 states and 25 countries. Here are just a few highlights:

• 333 students were in the National Honor Society
• 270 were athletic team captains
• 33 are Eagle Scouts or Girl Scout Gold Award Winners
• 24 were student government and/or class presidents

Speaking to new students and their families this week, Dr. Crutcher applauded their achievements: “At Richmond, we value intellectual curiosity. You have all excelled in the most rigorous curricula at your high schools, committed countless hours to public service, worked part-time jobs, served as leaders of your organizations and varsity teams … I am impressed by your energy and excitement, sense of humor, confidence, and ambition.”
