Spiders cap off record-breaking year

Spider Pride

Last weekend we wrapped up another exciting year at Richmond, celebrating with many of you at Reunion. And while we sport our #SpiderPride year-round, we thought we’d take a moment to reflect on our record-breaking year.

We know you’re staying up-to-date by reading our stories and sharing them with your friends (hint hint) but a recap of some of our proudest moments never hurt anyone! Just take a look at our amazing recent grads — and newest alumni — who are heading to coveted jobs and grad schools all over the world.

Our stellar students really raised the bar this year, earning the highest number of Fulbright U.S. Student Grants in UR’s history. And just last week we set a new record of Gilman International Scholarships with students receiving funding to study abroad. The School of Arts & Sciences hosted its largest symposium ever, highlighting student research and faculty mentorship. We also earned our highest ranking ever in U.S News & World Report and jumped ahead in the Princeton Review. And let’s not forget our law school earned the highest ranking in its history.

The excellence wasn’t contained only within the classrooms though — both our men’s and women’s lacrosse teams swept their conference tournaments and football student-athlete Kyle Lauletta was the highest-drafted quarterback in school history.

Whew, that’s a lot of bragging rights — and we know we’re going to continue earning accolades, especially considering our ambitious incoming class was among the largest application pool in history. We’re really looking forward to kicking off the new year by welcoming our new Spiders to our favorite place in just a couple of short months!
