North Court's new look

The wait is over! After more than a year of extensive renovations, North Court reopened to student residents this spring.

North Court’s iconic tower and courtyard gardens have made it a special place from the beginning, and the latest updates give it a much-needed refresh.

Completed in 1913, North Court housed all of Westhampton College while also providing living quarters for President Boatwright and Westhampton College Dean May Keller in the early years. Since then, generations of students have called it home.

A few things have changed. Students now enjoy suite-style rooms in place of more traditional single, double, and triple rooms with hall baths. The updates also include new lounges and study spaces that students have been craving. And with the addition of an elevator, we’re proud to report that 90 percent of the rooms are now fully accessible.

Less exciting, but equally important, the renovation replaced windows and roofing and upgraded the HVAC, electrical, waterproofing, and fire protection systems. In a building more than a century old, that was no small feat! The crews had to take the building down to its bones to achieve the needed upgrades.

We could go on about how great the spaces look today, but we’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking!
