We’re excited about a big announcement today! The University of Richmond is joining with some of the nation’s most respected colleges and universities in a bold commitment to increasing access and affordability to low-income academically talented students.

“At Richmond, our commitment to being need-blind in admission and meeting the full financial need of all students has helped us to nearly double the number of Pell Grant-eligible students in our entering class over the past 10 years,” said Ronald A. Crutcher, president of the University of Richmond, in a release announcing the partnership.

Making a college education affordable to every qualified student has been an ongoing priority at Richmond, but this collaborative is an exciting next step.

Over the coming years, the American Talent Initiative has set an ambitious goal to attract, enroll and graduate 50,000 additional high-achieving, lower-income students at those 270 colleges and universities by 2025.

“Working with our partners in ATI, we look forward to developing new and collaborative ways to increase educational opportunity in higher education and to magnifying the powerful benefits of those efforts, for our students, the nation and the world,” President Crutcher said.

We’re excited and proud to be a part of this commitment, and we can’t wait to meet the students who will make a difference in the world because of it.
