Another Spider is heading abroad thanks to the Fulbright grant program.

Ryan McEvoy received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant grant, which sends awardees abroad to teach English and serve as cultural ambassadors for the United States.

McEvoy, who’s deferring admission to the University of Pennsylvania Law School, will teach English and American studies next year in Germany.

He’s also kept busy while at Richmond. After several trips abroad for research and study, he’s also managed to triple major in German studies, international studies, and history. And he added to that a minor in Jewish studies.

All signs point to McEvoy continuing this dizzying pace of achievement when he settles into the German state of North-Rhine Westphalia.

“While in Germany, I am also interested in exploring the possibility of pursuing an additional community engagement activity, such as an internship, that would allow me to work with newly resettled refugees,” McEvoy said.

We’re proud of his hard work and the club of Spider Fulbright winners he’s now joined. Two years ago Richmond tied for first among bachelor’s institutions for producing the most Fulbright U.S. Scholars.
